Abstract: This article studies the impact of Decision Support Systems on the tasks of external management consultants as well as the role of these consultants in the R&D project selection process. On this basis, this paper investigates a French consulting firm and one of its clients. The preliminary findings show that consultants tend to legitimize already-made decisions. Additionally, the system that defines which project is eligible to the French research tax credit came as a solution to homogenize the different interpretations of multiple consultants working for the same client.
